TI Coach Hull makes impact at 2007 NHL Draft
TI News
TI U-16 Coach Jon Hull didn’t have to wait long for 2 of his former Defensemen to be selected in the NHL draft on Saturday in Columbus Ohio. Josh Godfrey (2nd round 34th overall Washington Capitals) and Colby Cohen (2nd round 45th overall Colorado Avalanche) were both drafted early Saturday morning. Colby Played for coach Hull during a series of Prospects tournaments in the spring and summer of 2004. “Colby is and has always been an elite player. I’m extremely proud of him, and I look forward to closely watching any success he will have in the future.” said Hull. Godfrey played under Hull for the Greater Kingston Predators Midget AAA. “Josh possesses a world class shot as well as tremendous offensive upside, I have no doubt that he will have a long career in professional hockey.” added Hull. Godfrey scored 24 goals and added 33 assists for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League, his slap shot was clocked at 99.7 mph that’s quite an amazing feat considering the hardest shot at this years NHL All Star game skills challenge was 100.4 mph by Zdeno Chara. Godfrey attributes Hull’s coaching and guidance as a big part of his skill development and success. “Coach Hull has been very instrumental in my development both on and off the ice over the last 4 years, his attention to detail and love for the game and his players is what sets him apart from other coaches, I truly loved my time spent playing for him and still turn to him for guidance both on and off the ice.” Coach Hull closed with “I am very humbled to be a part of Josh’s development, I wish him all the best.”
