Team Illinois is excited to announce the addition of Jackie Kooistra to the Team Illinois Hockey Staff as Director of Girls Hockey. Jackie will take on a prominent role within our girls program and will help guide the entire Team Illinois Hockey Club. Jackie’s experience, stature and reputation within the girls hockey community is second to none and she will have an immediate impact on moving our girls program forward. Her commitment and dedication are clearly visible and she shares the vision on what is best for all of the athletes at Team Illinois.
Jackie is coming to Team Illinois after spending the last two years as Program Director of the Culver Academy Girls Hockey Program and Head Coach of the 19U Prep AAA team. In addition to Culver, she has spent the last two years as Director of the girls CCM Selects,. In addition she has served as the Head Instructor for Chicago Blackhawks Youth and Girls Hockey Camps, and has traveled the country coaching youth hockey camps and clinics for USA Hockey, Planet Hockey, and Crazy 8’s Hockey Camp. Jackie also runs her own personal power skating camps called South Side Girls Hockey Academy. She is currently a skills instructor for USA National Team Development Programs. She also travels the country identifying top prospects to attend USA Hockey’s National Development Camps.
Her hockey career began at the age of 7 when she became a St. Jude Knight. After her peewee year she played AAA hockey for Team Illinois until her high school years when she then made a move to Culver Academy in Culver Indiana. Jackie was awarded a full scholarship to the University of New Hampshire’s D1 Women’s Hockey Program. She was a highly decorated player receiving many awards throughout her college career. She was also selected to play at the US Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY and participated in Team USA U18 and U22 team camps.
Jackie is married to her wonderful husband Chris and has two beautiful, happy, energetic children; Emma (5) and AJ (2).
In Jackies own words she says, “I am so excited to be joining the Team Illinois family again. My goal is to produce highly talented hockey players and well rounded athletes with the help of an already knowledgeable coaching staff. I want to continue the growth and success of the Team Illinois family and hope I can give it as much success at it has given me as a young player.”
Jackie will officially take her first steps on the ice when our spring program begins in March with our spring tryouts. We know that Jackie will blend seamlessly with our current girls coaching staff, already the best in Illinois.
We look forward to having her around Seven Bridges in the immediate future where she will be renewing old friendships and creating new ones with both our players and parents.
